Clinical Experience & Approach

Dr Kotecha is a conscientious, trustworthy and an ethical dental practitioner. His gentle and friendly approach is reassuring and calming, especially for those who are anxious about dental treatment.

With over 20 years of experience in general dentistry and a special interest in Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental implants, he is a strong believer in minimally invasive dentistry.

His philosophy is to treat his patients in the same way that he would treat his family. He has a genuine passion for delivering good quality dental care to all patients.

His priority is to provide high quality dentistry in a very gentle and relaxing manner with full emphasis on patient care, quality and long term successful treatment solutions.

He has used his wide skill-set to help his patients achieve confident smiles and is able to deal with both complex restorative and cosmetic cases. He has extensive experience in dealing with complicated restorative cases, management of stress related dental problems (e.g tooth-wear, headaches) and difficult cosmetic cases.

Dr Kotecha always look for new ideas to develop our services and treatment options for patients. He regularly undertake team development and patient care meetings.

The Practice

We modernised Harlestone Road Dental Practice over the years to provide our patients with a bright and welcoming atmosphere with modern treatment suites and the latest technologies. Our Practice now has three associates which mean patients have more treatment options available with less waiting time.

Education & Training

He graduated from Sheffield University in 1992 and completed a year of Vocational Training on the Leicester VT scheme. He worked as an associate for approximately seven years and became the principal of Harlestone Road Dental Practice in 2000.

He is committed to Continual Professional Development and has the desire to further himself as a dentist to offer the best care for his patients.

Having developed an interest in minor oral surgery over the years and following training with Dr Chris Lucas, he has further taken on in-depth postgraduate training in clinical aspects of Dental Implantology at Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, at the prestigious University of Sheffield.

Dr Ravi Gathani – Dentist

Ravi qualified from the prestigious Guy’s King’s St Thomas’ in London in 2013.

Training & Experience

Ravi has always been keen to come back to his home-town Northampton to practice as a general dentist. He thoroughly enjoyed his years in London and was lucky to be mentored by some of the best dentists in the country teaching modern, contemporary and especially minimally invasive dental techniques and is excited to put his skills into practice.

Courses & Qualifications


Ravi has recently passed his MJDF clinical exams, becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons showing his appetite to continue learning and evolve in this exciting career. By completing many clinical courses, including Quick straight teeth, he can offer his patients removable orthodontic solutions and advanced treatment options to help straighten teeth and improve their smiles.

Patient Care & Approach

Ravi loves general practice as he believes it gives him the opportunity to directly help the community and build strong relationships with his patients. He particularly enjoys treating families, children and anxious patients and believes that through clear and effective communication the patient can be guided to taking an active role in their dental treatment and oral health. His kind and gentle approach ensures that his patients are always happy.

Out of work Ravi likes to keep active and play for multiple sports teams including in football, cricket and golf.

Dr Rameen Rustamzada – Dentist

Education
 Rameen studied dentistry and qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2012 .

Training & Experience
Since Qualifying Rameen has been a family dentist in general practice.
Rameen has also experience working in a special care centre treating Anxious patients, this gives a comprehensive approach in his patient care placing his patients at ease whilst providing general and cosmetic treatment.

Rameen continues to keep up to date with dental education.

Dr Robert Cope – Dentist

Dr Cope qualified from Birmingham Dental Hospital in 1992. He carries out Routine Dentistry and Oral Surgery. He also worked in a local Oral Surgery department. In 1998 he gained a certificate in Restorative Dentistry from St Ann’s in Manchester. He also has successfully completed an Implant Dentistry course.

Dr Raj Patel – Dental Implant Dentist

Raj Patel supports our practice for Dental Implant Surgery (along with Sedation Treatment). He qualified from Sheffield Dental School with Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1992. He then completed his Vocational Training in General Dental Practice.

Over the years Raj’s experience in General Dentistry instigated his interest in full mouth restoration and reconstruction, leading him to later develop skills in Orthodontics (braces),Dental Occlusion (how teeth bite together), Dental Implant Surgery and Cosmetic Dental Surgery. To advance his surgical skills Raj worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Dundee Dental Hospital, where he gained his Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FDSRCS) in 1998 from the Royal college of Surgeons in Edinburgh. This involved treating injuries for the head and neck region.

Raj has been placing Dental Implants since 2004 and gained experience in all aspects of dental implant surgery from simple placement to complex cases involving bone grafts, sinus lifts, full mouth implants. Raj completed his training for implantology in the UK, USA, and Europe.

Raj has extensive experience in oral surgery and has also been providing dental treatment under sedation since 1998 both in a hospital and a practice environment. Following completion of a certificate course in Dental Mentoring with the FGDP Raj is now involved in training and mentoring fellow dentists in Advanced Dentistry with emphasis on Dental Implants.

His continued focus on full mouth reconstruction and restoration, means that patients interested in implant surgery, can take comfort in the fact that a full array of options will be presented to them alongside implant surgery to gain the best possible results.

In his spare time, Raj is also an avid reader, with subject matters from philosophy, science, religion to novels about crime, thrillers, science fiction to horror, Stephen King, Carl Sagan, and Dan Brown to name a few authors. He loves watching movies, recently taken up playing golf and enjoys discovering new gastronomic experiences. He is partial to a 6 mile morning run before he starts work to keep himself fit and alert and is also a keen traveller, his latest sojourn was to the Central Serengeti to watch lions hunting game.

Chetna Kotecha – Dental Practice Manager

She takes pride not only in her job but also committed and motivated team that she leads. She has passion to develop high quality care and services at Harlestone Road Dental Practice.

Chetna started working at the practice in the role of a dental receptionist in Sept 2000. She is an asset to the Practice with extensive dental experience gained from working in reception as well as nursing over years. Her hard working nature and commitment to the development of her role along with enthusiasm to life-long learning, has encouraged her to undertake courses such as: NVQ III in Dental Nursing, Diploma in Practice Management and The New trainers course by Oxford Deanery.

She has brought this experience to Harlestone Road Dental Practice and runs the Practice with great attention to detail and efficiency. Her exceptional people skills, empathetic nature and warm personality are integral in providing patients with overall good customer service, care and understanding. All our long-standing patients are very familiar with her friendly face and she is the first port of call for any concerns or sharing their experiences at Harlestone Road Dental Practice.

Donna – Senior Dental Nurse

Donna is involved in dentistry since 2004, however took a break between 2010 to 2012 to raise family

Donna joined the practice in 2012. Having qualified as a dental nurse in 2006 year, she obtained the National Certificate in Dental Nursing.

With her wealth of experience Donna is knowledgeable and practised in answering any question regarding all aspects of dentistry.

She has a vast knowledge of all aspects of dentistry due to working in the surgery and behind the desk.

Wilhelmina-Senior Dental Nurse/Receptionist

Wilhelmina is your first point of contact when you come into the practice but although her main duties are on Reception she is also a GDC registered dental Nurse with extensive experience and knowledge in both.

She qualified as a Dental Assistant in America in 2003, moved back to the UK in 2011 and became registered with the GDC in 2012.

Wilhelmina takes pride in her role and especially enjoys helping Anxious Patients feel more at ease.

Rubina – Receptionist

Rubina joined our practice as a trainee receptionist and has since worked hard to complete A Business and Administration course, this has left her feeling confident and competent  in her Role as Receptionist.

Rubina has learned a lot in her time working at our practice, she is passionate and enjoys all aspects of her role, especially interacting with the patients, caring for their needs and helping other team members.

Rubina is fluent in English as well Bengali and this is very reassuring to many our patients especially with Bengali as their first language.
